Pasta Salad Blamed for Salmonella Outbreak

August 02, 2018 - 7:03 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The number of people made ill by a new salmonella outbreak grows, including three in Missouri and two in Illinois for a total of 79.

The culprit is Spring Pasta Salad sold at Hy Vee grocery stores.  The product was recalled in mid-July.

“We are still recommending that people do not eat the recalled Spring Pasta Salad purchased from Hy Vee grocery stores, “says the CDC's Dr. Karen Neil.

Dr. Neil says if you have the salad, toss it out.  Salmonella symptoms usually last four to seven days and most people improve without treatment.  Though no deaths have been reported, 18 people have been hospitalized.
