EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) - Illinois State Police say a man found dead in the roadway early Saturday morning in East St. Louis may have been struck by a hit-and-run driver.

Investigators say they were called out to Mississippi Avenue near Liberty Street just after one am.

They think the driver of a newer-model silver Dodge Charger, possibly with tinted windows and a Missouri temporary license, may have information on the case.

Witnesses told them the car was last seen going south on Falling Springs Road in Sauget.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact ISP Sgt. Elbert Jennings at 618-571-4124.
