(KMOX) - When Georgia police released video of "Baby India," the newborn found earlier this month in a wooded area, they hoped it would encourage people to call with tips to help them find the person who abandoned her. But while the video did get the phone ringing, most of the callers had something else on their minds.

Since posting the video on Tuesday, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has received more than 1,000 calls from people offering to adopt the girl, a rep says.

Currently, Baby India is being cared for in a Forsyth County hospital, where nurses named her. Sheriff's officials say they've also received about 150 tips, but declined to say if any have panned out.

Baby India was found June 6th after a family heard her crying. They found the newborn wrapped in a plastic bag, still covered with blood from her birth.
