Over the past 7 years, more people got out of Chicago than any other city in America.

Looking at the migration data from the Census Bureau, over 296,000 people left the Chicago metro area.

Los Angeles is a distant second, with over 93,000 people leaving the area between 2010 and 2017.

Detroit, St. Louis (No. 4, with a decrease just under 40,000) and Cleveland round out the top five.

The reasons for the migration away from these cities vary -- overcrowding, high prices and economic stagnation are to blame in some cases.
