ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Presbyterians are taking a stand against cash bail. The annual Presbyterian general assembly is in St. Louis this week, and they decided that their 'community witness' will be to bail people out of the St. Louis Justice Center. They collected an offering at their opening worship that amounted to $40,000.

“That whole offering is going to bail folks out of jail and then we’ll be marching from the St. Louis convention center where our gathering is to the Justice Center as an action of Public Witness and to deliver that money,” says Rev. Erin Counihan, pastor at Oak Hill Presbyterian church.

She says the church needs to speak more to issues that communities are shouting about.
