Property Tax in Ballwin Stays at Zero

February 13, 2018 - 8:32 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Ballwin homeowners won't have to pay property tax to the city this year. Aldermen last night decided for the 30th year in a row to set the city's property tax rate at zero. After their meeting was over, we asked Ballwin Mayor Tim Pogue about their sales tax revenue.

"We're seeing an Amazon effect, everyone seeing an Amazon effect, and it's something that the state legislatures going to have to discuss on how they want to handle internet sales, because I think it's going to have a bigger and bigger effect as time goes on," he says.

Pogue says Ballwin has had some turnover in its big-box retailers, but sales tax revenue has remained steady or slightly down.
