ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOX) - Singer R. Kelly may have plenty of fans coming out to see him this evening in St. Charles, but outside the Family Arena there will also be protesters.

Local activists will carry signs and banners calling attention to the need to protect young women and girls from sexual predators like R. Kelly, they say, as part of the #MuteRKellySTL campaign.

They also plan to pass out cards with a list of names of young women who have reportedly been sexually assaulted by the performer.

#MuteRKellySTL organizers say they're angry at the Family Arena for allowing R. Kelly to perform there.

“Other venues wouldn’t take him, but the Family Arena did,” says activist Kristian Blackmon in a news release. “Regardless of whether or not outside promoters organized the event, the Family Arena needs to be held responsible for who they allow to perform at their venue.”
