“Days of Our Lives” fans have a lot to be grateful for heading into Thanksgiving.

Last week, it appeared the NBC soap opera was on life-support after it was revealed the entire cast had been released from their contracts and the show was allegedly going on an indefinite break.

But it turns out, the long-running series has been renewed for its 56th season, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Executive Producer Ken Corday made the announcement to the show’s actors on Thursday.

While the series tapes in advance and has already filmed eight months of episodes, the cast will go on a year-end break for the holidays and resume production in January.

If that wasn’t enough to bring a smile to the show’s rabid fanbase, NBC has also announced the launch of a new digital series that will bring back nine of the daytime serial’s beloved characters from the 2000 season.

Entitled “Last Blast Reunion,” the new project will be available on the “DOOL” app and is set premiere on November 29th, reported People.

Reuniting for the new series are Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady), Martha Madison (Belle Black), Heather Lindell (Jan Spears), Aaron Van Wagner (Jason Welles), Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane), and Lindsay Hollistar (Susan Adamson).

In addition, two parts have been recast. The role of Mimi Lockhart, who was previously played by Farah Fath, will now be portrayed by Teressa Liane. Chadwick Hopson is stepping into the role of Kevin Lambert, originally played by Brett Lawrence and Robert Benvenisti.

And as an added bonus, the first episode will also include a surprise fan-favorite character.

“We are excited to bring together some of the most beloved characters from Days of Our Lives in the next DOOL App series,” the show’s co-executive producer said in a statement.

”As this new digital platform continues to grow, we can provide exciting additional content to complement the air show on NBC.”

“Last Blast Reunion” will feature eight episodes varying in length between seven to nine minutes with a new one released on the “DOOL” app each Thursday. They will also be made available a week later on the NBC app and NBC.com.
