Scarlett Johansson just got real about her former marriage to Ryan Reynolds.

She discussed the things she learned in that marriage just in time for the release of her new movie, "The Marriage Story."

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the actress shared details about her three-year marriage to Ryan Reynolds. She explained to the magazine that she was not prepared at the time for marriage.

“The first time I got married, I was 23 years old,” Johansson said. “I didn’t really have an understanding of marriage,” she added. “Maybe I kind of romanticized it, I think, in a way.”

The couple divorced in 2011, after which Reynolds went on to marry Blake Lively, with whom he parents three children. Johansson just got engaged to Saturday Night Live cast member Colin Jost.

Johansson shared that she does not have any hard feelings towards Ryan Reynolds. She described their relationship in a way that she grew from it.

"It’s a different part of my life now," she said. "I feel like I’m in a place in my life, I feel I’m able to make more active choices. I’m more present, I think, than I’ve been before.”

The 35-year-old also discussed how she has been married more than once. She married a French journalist, Romain Dauria, in 2014. The former married couple, who went on to divorce in 2017, share a 5-year-old daughter, Rose.

“The idea of building a family, making a family, and having that work, I like that idea,” the actress said. “I think that would be wonderful. I’ve always wanted that. I wanted that also in my marriage to my daughter’s father as well. It just wasn’t the right person. But I like that idea.”

Back in November, Jost and Reynolds were both on a skit together for “Saturday Night Live.”

After Reynolds made a surprise appearance during Will Ferrell’s opening monologue, the “Deadpool” actor then appeared in a Weekend Update sketch, which Jost anchors. In the skit, cast member Alex Moffat played the wealthy, overly confident and clueless recurring character “Guy Who Just Bought a Boat” and brought out Reynolds as his good friend, “Guy Who Knows the Owner.

While many would find it tense having to not only be in the same room, but also work on live television with your current partner’s ex, Reynolds and Jost appeared to have no issue with it.
