Rapid Growth Calls for Construction, Updates in Wentzville

July 13, 2018 - 8:03 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Wentzville has been called the fastest-growing community in Missouri.

Explaining how his city is dealing with that rapid development is Mayor Nick Guccione through a series of social media posts.

He tells KMOX News that it takes a lot of planning ahead to deal with the growth -- for instance the new City Hall.

“We didn’t bond it out, we didn’t raise taxes, and we saved to build it and we knew our target was to build it in $15 million and we built for just a little under 13,” he says.

Up next is working with St. Charles County and the state of Missouri to upgrade roads passing through Wentzville, including the recently begun Phase 2 of the parkway upgrade that will adding a center turn lane and make sidewalks and trails ADA compliant.

“There are a lot of things going on in the city right now with roads, slab replacement, replacing some of our streets that are failing due to the way they were constructed years ago with not putting rock underneath them,” he says.
