Relief Could Be Coming Soon for Migraine Sufferers

May 18, 2018 - 11:40 am

(KMOX) - Migraine sufferers, relief could be on the way soon.

The FDA has just approved the first drug designed to prevent the debilitating headaches.

Aimovig, which is made by Amgen and Novartis, will be delivered by injection much like insulin pens.

The list price is steep at $6,900 a year, but many can't put a price tag on preventing the disabling attacks.

While not preventing all migraines, Aimovig can make them less severe and reduce their frequency by half.

Amgen expects the drug to be available to patients within a week.
