ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Fifty newly-refurbished apartments are coming to the Gravois Park neighborhood in south St. Louis.

Stephen Acree, president of Rise Community Development, calls it an excellent location to launch new living and commercial opportunities...

“It is the densest part of the region, it is the densest population the city, and it has a very high youth population,” he says.

In addition to new apartments in 16 rehabbed buildings, plans call for a restaurant incubator along Chippewa as well as a community center.

“We’re trying to do equitable development where there’s a balance between strengthening the real-estate market and the commercial activity and at the same time preserving affordability,” he says.

Groundbreaking takes place later today, with an eye toward completion in a year to 18 months.
