O'FALLON, Mo. (KMOX) — The details are still being finalized, but it looks like the River City Rascals will play next season at O'Fallon's CarShield Field.

"We have been negotiating with (the Rascals) for about the last six weeks on a lease for the 2019 season," City Communications Director Tom Drabelle told KMOX's Alex Degman.

The city canceled the team's lease last year, citing tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid rent and backlogged debt -- the team denied that was a problem.

"Since that time, they've come back to us and said they understand and wanted to make sure this doesn't happen again," Drabelle said. "We have a jewel in that ballpark and the Rascals have done a good job (of providing entertainment) for 20 years and we hope to continue having a long-term relationship with them."

Drabelle hopes to finalize all the details within a week to ten days.
