Rocket Fizz Reopens in Delmar Loop with New Owner and Staff

April 16, 2018 - 10:36 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Rocket Fizz on the Delmar Loop is back open with a new owner and entirely new staff.

Bill Sallada runs 10 other Rocket Fizz stores nationwide. He says Joe Edwards called him when the store closed in February and asked if he'd be interested in taking it over. Sallada says the Loop makes sense.

“It’s a really cool area, it’s actually one of the most unique areas in the country, and I thought it was perfectly situated for Rocket Fizz. Rocket Fizz is kind of unique, there’s no other store that’s really like it,” he says.

If you've never been, imagine a store with every candy imaginable -- including international and throwbacks -- plus unique, sometimes cringe-worthy soda flavors -- and collectibles.

Sallada says he'll work to rebuild the store's relationship with University City after an incident last September, when a clerk displayed a knife at a group of teens and pepper sprayed them. He reiterates everyone associated with the old store is gone.

“We want to make sure that people in the community know we’re different, and please don’t hold us responsible for any bad experience that happened in the past. Let us try to start of fresh and try to put a smile on your face,” he says.
