ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It was team photo day last week, A10 Media Days after that, this weekend the Saint Louis Billikens play an exhibition game and early next month they'll host a preseason tournament. As the intensity builds and we speed towards the NCAA Men's Basketball season, head coach Travis Ford is just trying to slow it all down.

"Everybody else wants it to speed up, I want it to slow down. We need some more days of practice," Ford says.

It's not a sign of lacking confidence in this year's team, the third-year Billikens coach just wants time to get this team full of underclassmen ready for bright lights of Chaifetz Arena.

SLU was selected No. 1 in the A10 preseason poll last week, after being picked to finish last just two seasons ago in Ford's first season. The Billikens haven't reached the NCAA Championship Tournament since 2014, but are expected to get in this year via an at-large bid or winning the A10 tournament.
