The number of jobs at stake - 450 at the company's current headquarters in Earth City and the addition of 64 new jobs. County executive Steve Stenger says other areas were trying to grab this headquarters, too.

“Save-a-Lot conducted a nine month long competitive national search and they did so to find the right location for their corporate headquarters, including considerations of metropolitan areas such as Kansas City and Louisville,” he says.

But Save-a-Lot decided in stay in the area and build a new HQ in the grounds of the old Northwest Plaza.

It’s a $20 million investment. Stenger, who's gotten some political heat for moving some county offices to Northwest Plaza, says the site is now home to 2800 jobs.
