ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Schnucks is attempting to topple the record for the World’s Largest Pineapple Display on Friday, June 28 at 11 a.m. at Schnucks Arsenal 5055 Arsenal Street St. Louis, Mo. 63139.

The previous record's set by grocers in Virginia, Minnesota and elsewhere, who claimed displays between 15,000 and 18,000 pineapples.

From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. there will be a pineapple party where customers can sample free pineapple-themed foods and drinks, and kids can participate in face painting and cookie decorating.

A portion of all store pineapple sales will benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation. The 501(c)3 honors fallen and disabled military service members by providing educational scholarships to their family members. Visit Schnucks’ website to learn more about our company-wide Folds of Honor campaign. The 2018 Schnucks Folds of Honor campaign raised $1.1 million and provided 220 college scholarships for family members of fallen and disabled veterans.

Customers who use the hashtag #WorldsLargestPineappleDisplay and post their pineapple display selfie to Instagram will be entered into a contest for a chance to win $1,000 in Schnucks gift cards.

Full contest details are available at http://schnucks.com/pineapple

Constructions of the display will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 27. Media who wish to obtain photos/video while the display is being built may contact the Communications team at 314-994-4603 or mediarelations@schnucks.com.
