ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Schnucks Markets is closing two of its locations, but all 130 employees are being transferred to other stores. Both locations are former Shop n' Save stores which were acquired by Schnucks last year.

The grocer plans to close the St. Ann store on St. Charles Rock Road on May 5, then the Festus location on Truman Boulevard will also close on June 30.

Schnucks officials cite poor sales in St. Ann and they were unable to agree on a lease renewal at the Festus location. Todd Schnuck, chairman and CEO told the Business Journal it was a "difficult decision, to close a store is a last resort and we are always sensitive to the impact it can have, so we are especially grateful to be able to minimize some of that impact by preserving our teammates' jobs and pay."

The employees will keep their same pay rate when moved to other stores.

Schnucks announced the purchase 19 St. Louis-area Shop ‘n Save stores last September.
