ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It was announced in open court Monday that Scott Faughn delivered $50,000 to the attorney representing the ex-husband of Gov. Eric Greitens' former mistress. KMOX's Mark Reardon revealed Tuesday afternoon that Faughn, publisher of The Missouri Times, says he was the original source behind the $50,000 cash payment to Albert Watkins.

Reardon spoke to Faughn over the phone Wednesday morning, who summed up that the money was given to Watkins as a retainer, and it was all for a book project.

"It's my money, and I'll spend it how I want to spend it," he told Reardon. "I'm not sure what's confusing."

"I don't know that that has anything to do with the family values politician luring a young woman into his family home," Faughn added.

When repeatedly asked by Reardon for reasoning behind a cash payment of the large sum to Watkins, Faughn finally responded: "How I pay an attorney is kind of my business. That's between me and him."
