ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - While many of us were watching the PGA Championship in Town and Country, it was also a busy weekend in Ferguson.

“Sometimes people don’t know how to help us, so we’re trying to help ourselves so that people who want to come into our community to help, they know exactly what we need,” says Latasha Brown, Vice President of the Southeast Ferguson Community Association.

For the second year, they held a "Community Appreciation Day", with resources from groups like the Father Support System, Save Our Sons, and the Ferguson Library's after-school tutoring programs.

Brown tells KMOX News they had 181 people show up, more than last year.

“We’ve actually had a lot of people who really want to see our community rebuild and see something beautiful come out of all of this,” she says.

The event took place at the Canfield Green apartments where Michael Brown was shot four years ago.
