Senate Approves Initial Measure to Help Utilities Raise Rates

February 09, 2018 - 10:31 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - After a filibuster lasting more than 24 hours, Missouri's Senate gave first-round approval to a measure to make it easier for electric utilities to raise their rates.

Utilities supporters argue they need more money to improve their electric delivery system to their customers, but during a filibuster, that was dismissed by St. Joseph Republican Rob Scaaf. The measure before the legislature would establish a new method to raise electric consumer rates to pay for electric system improvements.
