ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- Root beer floats and omelettes are coming to a long-vacant property in south St. Louis County.

It's the site on Lindbergh Blvd. near Ronnie's Plaza where there's already an Outback Steakhouse, and an expansive parking lot that used to serve a now-closed Target store.

Developer Dan Jones confirms to KMOX News he's signed leases with The Shack and Fitz's Root Beer to open up, while also keeping Outback.

"We think it'll be a great place for families to get together, which is why we call it 'Gathering Square,' to enjoy each others' company, to dine together and to do things the old fashioned way, which is to put the phone down and have a conversation with family," Jones says.

Jones says this development is a couple of years in the making. The site was complicated for many reasons, including because it was sold off by Target in pieces and rules about making changes to existing buildings.

Construction could start in a little more than a month.
