SWANSEA, Ill. (KMOX) - Look for the Wolf Branch Middle School in Swansea, Illinois to open back up by the start of the 2020 school year.

That's according to superintendent Scott Harres, who recently passed along the good news that readings show efforts to shore up the sinking half of the middle school have worked and the subsidence has stopped.

About 40-percent of the school was damaged -- and the cafe, gymnasium, locker rooms, kitchen and music room will have to be completely rebuilt with the state of Illinois picking up the majority of the tab.

For the past year, 370 middle schoolers have been packed in next to grade school students down the street.
