Flakes to begin falling just before daybreak

March 02, 2019 - 6:30 pm

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A "Winter Weather Advisory" goes into effect early Sunday and lasts until the afternoon.

National Weather Service meteorologist Melissa Byrd says those with Saturday night plans don't need to worry about driving in snow, "We're expecting the snow to move into the St. Louis metro area between 4 and 6, Sunday morning. We are expecting anywhere from about 3 to 4 inches accumulation in the metro area."

Byrd says heavier amounts are possible along the Interstate 70 corridor.

She anticipates the snow will taper-off after noon Sunday.

The region will be hit with a cold blast Sunday night. Low temperatures are predicted in the single digits, with wind chills to -10.
