St. Charles CAPS Program Offers Students Real World Experience

August 13, 2018 - 7:46 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The 2018-19 school year will offer new learning opportunities for dozens of high school juniors and seniors throughout St. Charles County.

Nicole Whitesell is director of the "Center for Advanced Professional Studies", or CAPS program, which she says will place students in business internships during the day to help teach them soft skills and business etiquette.

“It’s about solidifying that career choice through the exposure and immersion in the field, as well as showing students what St. Charles County has to offer,” she says.

And she says that might go a long way to retaining local talent fresh out of high school.

Some 150 students in the Francis Howell, Ft. Zumwalt, St. Charles, Orchard Farm, and Wentzville school districts are enrolled in the program, which officially launches this week.
