St. Charles Planning and Zoning Votes on Controversial Trash Transfer Station

May 21, 2018 - 7:45 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A vote this evening in St. Charles County on a controversial plan to build a trash transfer station near the Family Arena.

The facility would accept up to a thousand tons of trash each day before it's taken to an area landfill.  Trucks would also make around a hundred daily trips.  Residents say they're concerned about odor, debris, noise and property values for nearby homes.

If it's built, the facility would sit on an eight-acre site at Arena Parkway and Friedens Road.

The Planning and Zoning Commission already recommended the St. Charles County Council reject the proposal.  Tonight's meeting begins at 7pm.
