ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The American League can keep its DH, far as the St. Louis Cardinals pitching staff is concerned.

Although Flaherty is without homer has he begins his second full big-league season, he enjoys having a bat in his hand as much as his fellow pitchers like Carlos Martinez, Miles Mikolas, Adam Wainwright and John Gant. Who have a combined 15 career home runs between them (Wainwright leads the staff with 10).

"As long as there's a competition out there we want to be better than every other staff in the National League at doing it," Flaherty says. "So we take pride in it. We work at it."
