ST. LOUIS (KMOX) — Some seniors unable to make it to this Saturday's National Drug Take Back Day have another option.

The St. Louis College of Pharmacy this week has been teaming with the Drug Enforcement Administration to go door-to-door collecting expired medication from seniors.

Amy Tiemeier, director of community partnerships for STLCOP, said they'll be at Winter Garden Apartments in North City.

"Seniors are our most vulnerable population in regards to limited mobility and potential transportation issues in getting to one of those multiple locations on Saturday, and that's why we focus on them," she said.

Tiemeier says these events are important to help prevent the diversion, misuse and abuse of old drugs.

This Saturday, April 27, the St. Louis County Police Department will be collecting unused prescription medication at 13 area locations.
