ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -- It's no secret St. Louis has a reputation among local and touring musicians -- and it's not good.

Known to some as the "St. Louis welcoming committee," touring bands over the years have come through and had their vans broken into; their equipment stolen.

An AirBnB concept known affectionately as "JamBnB Suite" aims to help fix that.

Dan White spent nine months renovating a space on Lemp Ave. next to Off Broadway with musicians in mind. A musician himself, the real estate developer says he got the idea more than ten years ago when he lived in Los Angeles. He and his friends would come back from shows and have nowhere to jam.

"There was this sort of lingering thought about taking the concept of property management and just having residential units, and applying that to the arts and having rehearsal spaces," White told KMOX.

The Pocket is listed here right now but White hopes to eventually expand. The space features 4 beds, 1.5 bathrooms, a rehearsal space complete with instruments and equipment -- a full drumset, guitars, amps and a built-in PA system with speakers on the walls... and a wet bar.

Security might take the cake for this suite, though.

"I think we have a good solution to [the security issue]," White said. "It's not so much visible, they can park their vehicle back [behind the building], lock it up, it's gated and we have cameras and motion lights on their vehicle."

He also joked the dog next door, Wishbone, "won't mess around."

Non-musicians can and do stay at The Pocket, White says he's had 8 bookings since he opened it up. He's still waiting on his first band.
