ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A St. Louis police officer was injured while pursuing robbery suspects in south city.

An "officer in need of aid" call went out about 2:30 p.m. today at I-55 and Weber.

City police say they were looking for suspects in a hold up that happened in the 900 block of Iron Street, near Carondelet Park. The car the alleged robbers were in crashed trying to make a turn.

It's unclear how the officer was injured.

"While we do not have any specifics to the extent, we do not believe it is anything serious," Public Information Officer Michelle Woodling says in an email to KMOX.

Police say four suspects are in custody.

Officers are still on scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
