Police release final arrest numbers for St. Louis' Mardi Gras

The event took place in unseasonably cold weather this year, with highs in the 30s on Saturday

ST. LOUIS (KMOX/AP) - St. Louis police say they made 28 arrests during the 40th annual Mardi Gras weekend in Soulard, it was mostly for minor offenses.

Police said Monday that six people were arrested for assault, three for peace disturbance, one for driving while intoxicated, one for urinating in public, and 17 for minors in possession of alcohol.

The event took place in unseasonably cold weather this year, with highs in the 30s on Saturday and snowy and in the 20s on Sunday.

The St. Louis Mardi Gras is believed to be the nation's second-largest celebration, behind New Orleans.
