Start-Up Co-working Space Expands

July 23, 2018 - 9:14 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - A business center in majority-minority Wellston just doubled in size.  The grants that made it possible came as part of the "Promise Zone", a federal designation hoped to help lift north city and county.

St. Louis Promise Zone executive director Erica Henderson says many of the "start-ups" in the Wellston center are in industries like construction or health care. But like companies in the downtown, Cortex and Creve Coeur innovation centers, they all collaborate.

“You don’t know what you don’t know, and you don’t recognize opportunities to partner and to collaborate until you know what each business is doing and what they’re working on,” she says.

And just like with other co-working spaces, the goal is for the businesses to grow so much they have to 'move out of home.'
