ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger is responding to a story about county council members saying the county executive is threatening them and cancelling their projects out of retribution.

Stenger told KMOX's Mark Reardon he cancelled park projects in Hazel Erby and Colleen Wasinger's districts not because he was getting back at them.

"Because the $31 million was removed from the budget, the projects they requested could no longer be done. It's a really simple matter that has nothing to do with threats or retributions, it's really the natural consequence," he says.

Stenger says these things happened in December and none of the four council members who spoke to KMOX about their complaints ever talked to him about it.
