Stock Market is Resetting, Experts Say

February 09, 2018 - 6:57 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - It's official: the stock market's entered correction territory.

The major indexes have now lost more than 10 percent from recent highs. Dave Simons, host of KMOX's Dollars and Sense, says the markets are now at Thanksgiving levels.

"If someone had told you at Thanksgiving time 'hey, the market's going to be in relatively the same place in early to mid February, would you take it?' you'd say yeah, I mean I'm not happy about it, but sure," he says.

Simons told KMOX's Mark Reardon the market is resetting, and it'll take a while to find its footing in the face of rising inflation, interest rates and deficits.

He does not anticipate this turning into a bear market, and doesn't think stocks will behave as they did after the dot-com bubble in the late 90s and the housing crisis of 2008.
