JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) - (UPDATED 12:34 p.m.) A five-hour standoff in Jefferson County in the Cedar Hill Lakes subdivision is over.

Sheriff Dave Marshak tells KMOX that two people are in custody, and one woman is dead.

The original call came out as shots fired about 6 this morning. A woman was killed, and as police responded to the 8400 block of Eastview, an armed man held them at bay.

Marshak says at one point, another man approached the scene and refused orders to leave.

The man wanted in connection with the woman's murder was later taken into custody.

No names have been released.

A search warrant has been obtained, and the investigation continues, the sheriff says.
