Walmart taco seasoning sold nationwide recalled for Salmonella

Double check your seasoning isn't included in the recall before you celebrate Taco Tuesday this week.

(KMOX) - Williams Foods LLC has initiated a voluntary recall of two taco seasonings sold at Walmart stores nationwide including, Missouri and Illinois.

Great Value Mild Taco Seasoning Mix and HEB Taco Seasoning Mix Reduced Sodium are being recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination.

The FDA states there have been no reports of illness, so far, but lot was testing found the products to be potentially contaminated with Salmonella.

Customers who purchased the recalled products are being told to return it to the store for a full refund.

The following items and best-by dates are being recalled: 

- Great Value Mild Taco Seasoning Mix, 1 oz, Item Number: 564829444, UPC: 0 78742 24572 0, Best if used by 07/08/21, Best if used by 07/09/21
- HEB Taco Seasoning Mix Reduced Sodium, 1.25 oz, Item Number: 050215, UPC: 0 41220 79609 0, Better by 07/10/21, Better by 07/11/21, Better by 07/15/21

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
