'Taking The Flower By The Thorns:' PETA Introduces Animal-Friendly Phrases

"Bring home the bacon?" How about, "Bring home the bagels."

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - PETA is making a plea to the public to stop using every-day phrases that the organization says are anti-animal.

The animal activist group offered alternative animal-friendly phrases Tuesday on Twitter.

For example, PETA suggests saying, “Be the test tube," instead of, "Be the guinea pig," and, "Take the flower by the thorns," instead of, "Take the bull by the horns."

"Bring home the bacon?" How about, "Bring home the bagels."

"Just as it became unacceptable to use racist, homophobic, or ableist language, phrases that trivialize cruelty to animals will vanish as more people begin to appreciate animals for who they are..." the group explained in a tweet.
