WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. (KMOX) -- Public school students in Webster Groves are being kept indoors today, after an anonymous threatening phone call to Bristol School.

The lockout affects some 4,300 students spread across nine buildings from pre-school to high school.

"Everything is normal on the inside, just nobody goes outside," said district spokesperson Cathy Verspereny.

Vespereny says the Bristol school received a "rambling phone message" with no specific action threatened, but what could be perceived as a "general threat."

School children were called in from the playground, and all after school activities at all schools will be moved indoors.

The district contacted police in Webster Groves and Rock Hill, and efforts are underway to identify the caller, Vespereny said.

Webster Groves Police confirm they are investigating, but they had no more information about the nature of the phone call.

Heightened security at the school will continue this week, as the investigation continues.
