Total Access Wants to Open New Urgent Care on Gravois

May 22, 2018 - 10:11 am

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Gravois and Mackenzie is the latest location where Total Access Urgent Care wants to open up.  Dr. Matthew Bruckel explained to St. Louis County planning commissioners that most patients to his urgent cares go home, which means no ambulances adding to traffic.

“That’s very different forma normal urgent care. Normal urgent cares, 20 percent of the time you’re going to the hospital, you’re going to the hospital so the ER can take care of you for more complicated diseases that we actually take care of you in-house,” he says.

Bruckel, asked if there'll be ambulances adding to traffic in the area, says no.

“St. Louis County does not allow ambulances to come to us yet, but in St. Charles County there’s an experiment where they’re taking appropriately triaged patients and bringing them to us, but it’s like one patient,” he says.

He also had to explain what an urgent care is when a member of the audience asked if it had to do with "Obamacare." He showed images of the current site, which is overgrown by weeds. Planning commissioners polled the audience, which approved 55-to-1, but didn't take an official vote themselves.
