ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The latest crime numbers in the city of St. Louis are out, and they look a little better than this time last year.

Total crime is down 5 and a half percent, and crimes against persons are down more than 7 percent.

The city had 28 murders through February -- one less than last year. But, 347 people were assaulted with a gun through February -- a jump over more than 8 percent.

There were 54 carjackings by the end of February - the same as last year - and 434 vehicles were stripped for their parts, an increase of 7 percent.
