McBride Homes officials say they's reached an agreement with two Affton natives to purchase the South County site.

Michael Burton fought to save Tower Tee for a year and a half.

"These two angels came and saved a part of St. Louis history," Burton told KMOX's Michael Calhoun. "That's what we were fighting for...it's easier when you're fighting for a place (like Tower Tee)."

McBride faced vocal community opposition and some challenges with the County Council.

Two Affton natives, who made their money at Scottrade, Steve Walkenbach and Mike Shamia, are buying the land. They plan to have a new, modern Tower Tee open by fall of 2020 with the same batting cages and driving range attractions.

Walkenbach in a statement says he wanted to "pay it forward" to the Affton community.
