UPDATE: Memphis police arrest O'Fallon, IL man wanted for questioning in wife's death

Memphis police arrested the O'Fallon, IL resident "without incident" after his wife's burning body was found in O'Fallon, Monday morning

0'FALLON, Ill (KMOX) updated Tuesday at 8:55 a.m. - Police in Memphis, Tenn. have arrested a O'Fallon, Ill. man who is wanted by police for questioning concerning the case of his wife's burning body which was found Monday morning. 

Andrew Montez McKissick's vehicle was recoginized by another law enforcement jurisdiction, but it was Memphis police who arrested the O'Fallon resident "without incident" around 11:05 p.m. on Monday, police say.

McKissick's wife, Sherry J. Billups, was found burning outside of a car at West Madison Street and Obernuefemann Road, Monday morning. First responders were unable to save her, but police thanked some bystanders who they say attemped to save Billups before police arrived on the scene.

O'Fallon Illinois Police are searching for the husband of a woman who's body was found burning outside a car this morning. 

The victim, Sherry J. Billups, 35, was found before 7:30 a.m. at West Madison Street and Obernuefemann Road. Chief Eric Van Hook says a search is underway for the person of interest, Andrew Montez McKissick.

Police describe McKissick as a 36-year-old black male, 5'8" and 155-pounds. Police say he is possibly driving a Chevrolet truck with an extended cab, possibly 1999-2002, but the license plate is unknown. 

Anyone that may have been in the area this morning when the incident occurred or may have information regarding the whereabouts of McKissick is asked to contact the O’Fallon Police Department, Lt. Kerry Andrews at 618-624-9589.

Van Hook told KMOX, that first responders were not the only ones who tried to save the woman. He says some bystanders tried to save Billups before police arrived on the scene.
