Sandbagging volunteers needed in Valmeyer, Prairie du Rocher

More concern for flooding along Mississippi River

VALMEYER, Ill. (KMOX) — Valmeyer and Prairie du Rocher are calling for sandbagging volunteers Wednesday morning.

Here's the details for Valmeyer:

  • Wednesday, May 29, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 29, from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 30, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Location - At Rock City in Original Town Valmeyer.  
  • Directions: From Bluff Road just north of Original Town Valmeyer, take the Rock City entrance road and drive up the hill. At the top the hill report in at the command post. You will be directed to sand bagging location.

In Prairie du Rocher:

  • Wednesday, May 29, beginning at 5 p.m.
  • Location - behind the Prairie du Rocher American Legion Hall.

In cities along the Mississippi River, crests are expected Sunday or Monday at levels just three to four feet below Flood of 93 levels.
