WASHINGTON, Mo. (KMOX) - Classes are back in session for the School District of Washington. This just a day after they were cancelled because of a safety concern over an employee who reportedly had a gun and made threats about a shooting.

33-year-old Thomas Wingfield is in custody. Authorities found marijuana in his possession, and charged him with possession of a controlled substance. He is in Franklin County Jail, held on a $10,000 bond.

Superintendent Lori VanLeer sent a note to parents and students saying there was no threat made to any school, but due to the timing of the report they got from police, the decision was made to cancel school Thursday.

She goes on to say school is back in session Friday as Wingfield remains in custody.
