Winter Weather Could Hinder Mardi Gras Plans

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Certainly not the Storm of the Century, but there will be some inclement weather to keep an eye on over Mardi Gras weekend.
During a joint news conference with the Missouri Department of Transportation, National Weather Service spokesman Jim Kramper talked about what's in store, weather-wise, for the next few days.

The rougher stuff starts Saturday evening after sunset, Kramper says, with more continuous freezing rain and maybe some sleet.

Up to a 10th of an inch of both ice accumulation and sleet accumulation is predicted, along with a dusting of snow Sunday morning.

Kramper says their models show the worst of the icing should take place late Saturday night into Sunday.
Bob Becker with MoDOT pledges to have 200 trucks out working 12-hour shifts for the duration of the ice storm.

The system will have moved out of the area in time for the Monday morning commute.
