Castle Point, MO (KMOX) — Firefighters say two neighbors saved a woman's life Monday morning after her house at the intersection of Baron and Princess Drives in Castle Point caught fire.

The neighbors were walking by when they saw smoke pouring from the small one-story yellow home. Then, they noticed the woman who lives there lying at the front door.

"They say the door was slightly open, so she may have been trying to get out," Riverview Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Wes Morgan told KMOX's Brian Kelly. He says they then pulled the woman away from the home and she was outside by the time firefighters got there.

She's being treated for smoke inhalation. A neighbor tells KMOX News she's expected to recover. A firefighter suffered a cut hand during the battle to put out the fire.

The fire's cause is under investigation.
