ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The CEO of the largest woman-operated and owned distributor of spirits in the country got her girls together to talk whiskey.

Sue McCollum of Major Brands says the heads of Forest Park Forever, the Contemporary Art Museum, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the St. Louis Fashion Fund, along with Suzanne Sitherwood of Spire and others are making their mark.

“We all traveled by bus down to Louisville and then down to the Makers Mark location in Loretta Kentucky and we created out own unique special blend of bourbon,” she says.

Major Brands is donating it. Once the barrel is ready to tap, it should yield about 240 bottles. McCollum says they're still figuring out the best way to sell it to make money for the four non-profits.

McCollum says the “Women and Whiskey" tour marked two firsts.

“This is the first time in their barrel selection process that it was an all-women panel that chose and blended a unique blend of whiskey, and our recipe was unique as well. It had never been selected before,” she says.
