POLICE: O'Fallon, Mo. high school staff stop man from lighting self on fire in parking lot

Police report no children or staff memebers were harmed.

O'FALLON, Mo. (KMOX) — O'Fallon Missouri Police are crediting staff at Liberty High School with stopping a 29-year-old Wright City man from setting himself on fire. 

The man doused himself with gasoline on the parking lot of the school on Sommers Road around 6:30 this morning. 

Police say school staff took a lighter away from the man, and held him on the ground until police arrived. 

According to police, the man was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to be treated for chemical exposure to the skin.

Police report no children or staff memebers were harmed.

Authorities have not found a connection between the man and Liberty High School.
