Maria Keena


Maria Keena joined KMOX in October of 2007. She is the morning news editor and traffic co-anchor for morning and afternoon drive times.  Maria has been in St. Louis radio since her broadcasting career began in 1989 at KXOK, where she was an anchor, reporter and host of a consumer electronics show. Her career then took her to the legendary WEW, where she started as a weekend announcer and eventually assumed the position of Prograector. In 1998, Maria became the General Manager of KZJZ 1380 AM, where she won a National Marconi Award for best jazz station in the country. In 2000, she joined Westwood One’s Metro Networks as a reporter and was assigned to different stations in the market, including KMOX as a traffic reporter. In 2001, Maria became bureau chief, and in 2003 she was promoted to Director of Operations for St. Louis. In 2005, Maria made the change from radio to TV. For nearly two years, she was a writer/field producer for KTVI channel 2. Maria is a member of the 18-piece Big Band the Knights of Swing -- an organization committed to preserving the heritage of jazz music. She loves to cook --, bake --, and garden--, and she loves cleaning the house! So much dog little time.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Taormina, Sicily, where my Nana's family came from.

Person who made the most impact on you? My mom.

If you could only keep three possessions, what would they be? Pictures of family and friends, a black cashmere turtleneck sweater, and a charm that a dear friend made for me.

If you are not at work, you’re probably doing what? Cleaning the house.

If you won the lottery, what would you do? Take care of everyone I love and care for, establish an organization or fund to benefit the underprivileged - especially children - and provide funds to no-kill animal shelters.
