Rocky Sickmann grew up in Franklin County, Missouri. He enlisted as a marine in 1975 and was eventually stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Iran in 1979. His life changed forever on November 4th of that year when radical students stormed the embassy and took Sickmann and dozens of other Americans hostage. Sickmann spent 444 days in captivity. But since that ordeal, he’s never forgotten the eight soldiers who gave their lives in a rescue operation. He’s given back by participating in “Folds of Honor,” which provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. He shares his story with host Mark Reardon.
